Company History
Inspired to weld at the age of 17, James E. Strum graduated from local 122 a four-year sheet-metal apprenticeship program in 1979. He founded Strum Contracting Company Incorporated, a custom welding and light fabrication business, in 1987. Over the past three decades, Strum Contracting Co. Inc. has served as the premier minority (MBE Certified) welding company to many infrastructure and fabrication projects in the mid-Atlantic region.
The firm specializes in both complex and simple infrastructure improvements. Strum Contracting has extensive experience in the Heavy-Highway industry. All of our welders are American Welding Society (AWS) D1.5 certified and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) certified. Our welders use internationally recognized techniques such as Mechanical Inert Gas (MIG) welding, Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, and Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW) welding.

Chief Executive Officer
Teaera Strum is the Chief Executive Officer of Strum Contracting Company Inc. (SCC) and brings over 15 years of experience in business operations. At SCC she oversees the company’s daily operations including leading contract negations, financial management, and external affairs.
James Strum
Founder & President
James Strum founded Strum Contracting Company Incorporated, a custom welding and light fabrication business, in 1987. Mr. Strum holds multiple certifications conferred by the American Welding Society (AWS) for accomplishing a wide range of welding methodologies in support of the manufacturing, fabrication, and erection of raw steel and miscellaneous metals.
